Dora Dunning, MA, LPC, NCC
Licensed Professional Counselor

One of my favorite quotes is, “If something gets in your way, turn.” Life frequently throws unexpected obstacles in our path. Whether you are pushing through anxiety, processing grief, or simply feeling stuck after a major transition, finding a new direction is often what leads to true, lasting healing. You don’t have to navigate these challenges alone.

I’m Dora Dunning, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC) since 2004 helping adults move past trauma, depression, and relationship struggles. My primary specialty is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)—a research-backed modality that helps your brain reprocess painful memories so they lose their emotional intensity and hold over your life.

While EMDR forms the foundation of my practice, I tailor every treatment plan to the individual. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed tools, and mindfulness to help you build resilience and present-day confidence. Whether you are dealing with a single traumatic event, chronic stress, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, you don’t have to navigate it alone. This may be the right moment to turn toward something different—reach out today to take the next step in your healing journey.

Areas of Focus:
Trauma & PTSD, anxiety & chronic worry, depression, stress, burnout, grief & loss, self-esteem & confidence issues, relationships challenges, life transitions, childhood trauma

Insurance Accepted:
Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Kaiser Permanente, Medicare, Meritain, UMR, United/Optum

Appointments:
In person (Broomfield office); Telehealth for Colorado residents.

Lena Dunning, LCSW, C-DBT
Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Founder

Healing isn’t about avoiding discomfort—it’s about expanding your capacity to sit with it, understand it, and move through it. Growth rarely happens in our comfort zones. My clinical work centers on helping adults (20+) build emotional resilience, moving away from automatic reactivity toward thoughtful flexibility. I firmly believe in the brain’s innate capacity for healing, and my role is to facilitate that process alongside you in a compassionate, collaborative space.

My path began at Gallaudet University, followed by four years serving Colorado’s Deaf and hard-of-hearing community in a community mental health setting. In 2014, I established A Work in Process to extend that dedication to deep therapeutic work. Here, I help clients navigate painful life transitions and find meaning through difficult times, while also holding space for individuals and families moving through the end-of-life process. We may not be able to stop life’s hardships, but we retain the power to choose how we respond to them.

To support this deep processing, I draw heavily on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Together, these approaches help regulate the nervous system, unseat all-or-nothing thinking, and resolve underlying distress. Whether you are navigating major transitions, trauma, or burnout, I am proud to provide inclusive care to both the hearing and Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities.

Areas of Focus:
End-of-life care, emotional disturbance, trauma, PTSD, codependency, Deaf & hard of hearing (ASL fluent), older adults, terminal illness, grief, complex family dynamics

Insurance Accepted:
BCBS, Cigna, Kaiser Permanente (Expected Fall 2026: Presbyterian)

Appointments:
Telehealth for clients throughout Colorado & New Mexico.

Melissa LaLonde, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

For over 25 years, I have provided compassionate, effective care to individuals, couples and families (ages 6 to adult). Life has a way of throwing unexpected challenges at us, and whether you are processing past trauma, working through relationship strain, or managing the daily overwhelm of grief, anxiety, or depression, you don’t have to carry it alone.

As a LCSW, I bring a direct, relationship-first approach to therapy- balanced with warmth, empathy, and a solid sense of humor. Depending on what you bring into the room, our work might involve evidence-based trauma processing with EMDR, practical skill-building through CBT, or creative exploration through art, sand, and play therapy. Together, we’ll find the exact rhythm and tools that feel right for you and your family so you can move forward with greater confidence and peace.

On a personal note, I have the privilege of parenting both adoptive and biological children. This personal journey deeply enriches my understanding of family dynamics, attachment, and the unique joys and hurdles of raising children today.
